Is There a God? Does God Exist? Where Is The Proof?
If you are reading this page, chances are you feel a strong desire, if not intense yearning within you, to know with absolute confidence and certainty if God really exists or not. Human beings have questioned the reality of God for thousands of years. They've made up ideas of who and what they think God is. They've created countless belief systems, religions, theologies, and ways of living based upon what they believe God to be. For some people, their beliefs about God and who or what they think God is, is "enough." They feel no need to prove God's existence. They believe what they believe and do not question it. For others, however, beliefs are not enough. They seek real proof of the existence of God, something that is irrefutable, unarguable … something that is based upon measurable facts, not opinions or beliefs, but empirical evidence.
Ironically, if you asked every single person in the world who believes in God to tell you who or what God actually is, you would probably get a different answer from nearly everyone. Because of the work that I do, I have personally asked thousands of people over the years who say they believe in God to write down their definitions of God. Guess what? Every single person ends up writing down something different … sometimes slightly different, sometimes very different.
I won't hold you in suspense. I have no desire to dangle a carrot in front of you. The truth is, there's nothing I can tell you, describe to you, or present to you that's going to convince you, without a shadow of a doubt, that God exists or not. That's just the truth. In fact, the world isn't capable of proving the existence of God. There is nothing in the world that can prove whether God exists or not. Science can't prove the existence of God. Philosophers can't prove the existence of God. Priests, monks, or spiritual teachers can't prove the existence of God.
Why?
Because the existence or reality of God cannot be proven. It can only be experienced.
A thought or belief about God does not and cannot prove that God is real, just like a thought or belief about God cannot prove that God is real to you either.
Holding the right belief system, the right mental framework, the right theology or idea cannot prove the existence of God. The only thing that has the ability to prove to you that God really exists is a direct, personal experience of God.
Right now, think of someone that you love very deeply in your life. It could be a spouse, a child, a parent, a best friend. It doesn't matter who it is. Just think of that person right now as you're reading these words. Do you have that person in mind? Okay.
How do you know that you really love that person? Be honest. How can you know that you really love that person? Before reading any further, answer this question honestly. How can you know that you really love that person? Stop reading until you have an answer for yourself.
Now that you've answered that question, prove to me that you truly love him or her. What could you possibly say to me that would prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that you truly love that person?
The truth is, there isn't anything you can say that could "prove" to me that you really love that person, because no matter what you say, I can choose to interpret your proof any way I want. No matter what evidence you give me of your good intentions, your emotional feelings, or actions and deeds you may have made which "demonstrate" your love, no matter what you say, I can always find a different reason for your actions or intentions. I can interpret anything you tell me however I want.
You cannot use what is in the world to prove your inner experience. You cannot use the physical actions, manifestations, situations, consequences, or deeds of the world to prove your inner experience to someone else. Your inner experience is only true for you and it cannot be proven to another person. It's just an experience, but because it's a real experience for you, it's real. Your love is real.
You don't simply have a belief about your love. You have an experience of your love. Yes, you believe that you love that person, but your conviction doesn't come from the belief. It comes from your personal experience. It comes from an inner experience that is beyond words, beyond proof, beyond empirical evidence and data. It's just raw experience, and I'm guessing, that that raw experience is "enough" for you. You don't need to prove it to yourself.
It is the same with God.
How do I know this? Because I've experienced it. I've experienced the presence of God firsthand. It's not a belief. It's not a thought that I hold in my mind that convinces me that God exists. It's an actual experience that is undeniable. It's an experience that is so real, so tangible, that it's impossible for me to deny.
Why am I sharing all of this with you? Because I don't think that you're ever going to find the proof that you want or seek in the world of God's existence. I don't think that anything in the world is ever going to prove to you that God is real, that there is such a thing … and beyond that, who or what God is. The only thing that is ever going to prove to you that God exists is a direct experience of God. The only thing that's going to teach you who and what God truly is, is a direct experience of it.
This is why the existence of God has never been proven. Because it can't. It can only be experienced.
This is both the good news and the bad news. It's bad news for the part of your mind that wants worldly proof. But it's also good news because real proof, proof that will be undeniable to you, is actually attainable. All that it requires is your desire to experience it.
Nobody can have a direct experience of God unless that is what they seek or want in their heart. As soon as one truly has that desire in their heart, it is guaranteed to happen. It could happen immediately, or it could happen after years of searching for that experience, but it will happen. It is through your desire that you open up your heart and mind to the possibility, and eventual reality, of experiencing God directly. This direct experience will be beyond your thinking, beyond your mind, beyond what you can see with your eyes, hear with your ears, and touch with your hand.
I'm personally not into "beliefs." In fact, I try to give up as many beliefs as I can. They're all just made up anyway. When we believe a thought, it immediately becomes real in our experience. As soon as we let go of that belief, our reality changes and we no longer experience that belief the same. We no longer see the world through the filter of that belief. But when we experience something directly, our beliefs, what few we might have, arise directly from the experience itself.
My goal and passion is to help people have a direct experience of God. My wife and I have been teaching people for the past 10 years how to hear God's voice within them is very clear and recognizable way. We teach very few belief systems. In fact, I try to teach none at all. Instead, we provide people with a set of exercises that gives people a direct experience of the presence of God within them. We give people a set of exercises that has the ability to take them beyond their beliefs, feelings, ideas, emotions, and everything else of the mind and into a direct experience of the Source of their being. When one directly experiences this Source, by whatever name they call it, they know firsthand if God is real or not.
I would love to support you in having this direct experience, but choosing to have it is up to you. You have to want to have a direct experience of God in order to have it. You have to want to find the only proof that is ever going to convince you if God is real or not. And that proof does not exist outside of you, but within you. I can't give it to you, only you can do that, but I can teach you the steps that has enabled tens of thousands of people just like you to have this direct experience of God for themselves.
It's not magic. It's not complicated. It doesn't matter what your background is, what your beliefs are, what your lifestyle is, religion, faith, or anything else about you. We've taught this process to Christians, Buddhists, agnostics, atheists, scientists, people who've been on a spiritual path for years, and people who have never done anything spiritual in their lives. It honestly doesn't matter who you are, what you believe, or anything else. Our five step process for hearing God's voice works for anybody.
Ask yourself honestly, do you want to continue seeking proof in the world of whether God exists or not, never quite finding it, always wondering, feeling the pain, frustration, uncertainty, and fear of not knowing what is true or untrue? Or would you rather have a direct experience of the deepest Truth within yourself and then know for certain, without any doubt, what is True for you? Are you truly willing to directly experience the presence of God within yourself, or do you secretly prefer to seek and never find?
If you find yourself afraid to ask this question, be honest with yourself. What are you afraid of? Are you afraid of actually finding the answer? Do you doubt your worthiness or ability to actually experience this answer within you?
If you do feel afraid, that's okay. That's actually normal. We all experience fear in letting go what we are comfortable with, what we know and believe, or what we have grown accustomed to. We are all afraid, to one degree or another, of the unknown. But I can assure you, connecting with and directly experiencing the deepest Source of our being is one of the most wonderful experiences you will ever have. And it's not only possible, it's inevitable. Deep down within all of our hearts is a desire to experience unconditional love, truth, wholeness, peace, and complete fulfillment. This desire deep within us comes from the deepest part of our being, and it is in this place of pure Beingness, beyond what the mind can imagine, think, or believe, where the direct experience of God exists.
Do not worry if you feel afraid, unworthy, or incapable of having this direct experience for yourself. Every single person in the world experiences the same fear, unworthiness, and incapability. The ego has no other choice than to feel this way. Those thoughts and feelings, however, are not Who and What you truly are. Regardless of what you are feeling or experiencing in this moment, ask yourself this question: What do I truly want? What is the deepest desire of my heart?
