God is Everywhere

Terri Amos-BrittAs you know, we at The Voice for Love are big proponents of hearing God’s Voice in all ways imaginable, so when my friend, Terri Amos-Britt, sent this article to me entitled, God Is Everywhere, I wanted to share with you. Enjoy!

"You are not alone. You are part of this wonderful, loving presence we call God. God is in everything; therefore, you are part of the whole. You are connected to all of it. When you make the decision to start loving yourself, opening up to make a divine connection, you’ll realize that you are not alone and never have been. You’ll see that God’s messages are everywhere, if you’ll just slow down and pay attention.

I’ll never forget the day that I truly realized that God IS everywhere. I can’t remember the exact reason I was struggling—motherhood seems to have sapped my memory—but what I do remember is the fact that I was standing over my washing machine praying. Yep, that’s right. I was praying over my washing machine. Don’t laugh. My daughter, Mackenzie, will tell you that she walked in our house on another day with a friend and saw me sitting on the floor in my fluffy pink bathrobe by a partially unloaded dishwasher with my eyes closed. When she asked what in the world I was doing, I opened one eye and said, “Meditating.” She rolled her eyes at her friend, threw her arms up and laughed, saying, “See what I have to live with!”

I tend to meditate and pray everywhere, especially after that day in my laundry room. As I said, I don’t remember exactly what I was upset about but do know that I was really struggling with life. I felt so alone. I remember saying to God, “I need to know you are here. I need help.”

As I lifted my eyes I saw “Infinite Water Level” listed on my Maytag washing machine. “Wow!” I thought. “That’s just like God: infinite.” Then I noticed another line on the machine, “Dependable Care Plus/Heavy Duty, 2 Speed, Super Capacity.” Yes, I knew I was being told that God is always dependable and will always be there with me with super capacity to take care of me if I will just surrender.

The message went a step further when I noticed the “Wash/Rinse Temperature” settings. I saw “Hot/Cold, Warm/Warm, etc.,” you get it, and knew that I was being shown that it is our choice on how much we allow God to help us. God’s touch in our lives can be really hot if we want it to be or really cold if we shut it out.

When I saw the next setting, “Wash/Spin Speed,” I knew God was telling me we have a choice to be on our journeys as fast or as slow as we want to be. Our path can be regular or fast, or very gentle and slow. It’s always our choice.

The last setting I saw on my washing machine that day was for the 11 different cycles for different types of clothes. This aspect of the message told me that God is there for everybody. No matter who you are, where you’re from, or what race you are, that God’s unconditional love is everywhere for everyone.

Wow! I couldn’t believe I received such an inspiring message praying over my Maytag washing machine! I knew then that God was listening to me. And I knew that God’s messages come in all sorts of packages.

Mom, your day-to-day life is filled with messages from God, just like my washing machine was for me that day when I prayed for help. God speaks to us in many ways. The messages are gifts to guide us. They give us the answers we seek so we don’t feel so alone and buried in responsibilities. By giving yourself permission to create a connection and opening up to receive God’s messages, you release the turmoil in your life and become a more loving mom."
